Kuumba Nia Arts Sankofa Stories/Workshops

Sankofa is the mystical African bird who looks back to the past, with an egg in its beak, as it moves forward into the present :

'It is not taboo to look back and pick up what you have forgotten'.

Sankofa Stories are first person dramatised monologues, based on real characters from black experience/ history. They are hour - long workshops each featuring two dramatised black history figures, audience questions and answers, and teaching notes. These are for schools and organizations.

Workshops:

We offer bespoke workshops to groups and organizations, drawing on our skills and experiences. They can include: drama, creative expressive workshops exploring topical issues, self/ identity, poetry and storytelling/ making, African history, issue based drama. We also deliver poetry and storytelling performances and have a repertoire of Caribbean, African, British and American poems, speeches and stories.
